OVERVIEW
Located on 80 acres of Byron Shire’s most lush and verdant agricultural land, The Farm is a sustainable food tourism experience celebrating the daily rituals around food production, preparation and consumption. Primarily a working farm with paddock-to-plate restaurant, this ambitious project offers visitors a true agricultural experience, and a vantage point from which to enjoy the fruits of the land. Embracing the historic flower farm’s latent character, the priority was to preserve viable existing structures through adaptive re-use, before grafting on contemporary shed-like architecture. Appropriate local materials were supplemented with salvaged timber and steel from around the site, allowing for authenticity and cohesion throughout the project.
