River House Studio

OVERVIEW

The River House Studio is DFJ’s only prefabricated project to date, designed to be transported by truck in four sections and craned into place. Consisting of a painter’s studio, wash-up, bathroom, storage and undercroft carport, it perches lightly within its established banking landscape. In order to provide day-long natural, diffused light, only one large section of south-facing glazing was inserted into the studio itself, framing panoramic views over the neighbouring Brunswick River. The structure is clad in oxidised Corten Steel and recycled teak, and punctuated with smaller openings to illuminate back-of-house facilities.
